In the classroom..
Our first full week of semester 2 has been going quite well. My 7th and 8th grade students are working in collaborative table groups in order to explore the art elements of line, shape, & texture. It is a really cool experience for both them and myself as they work together to learn about the application of these three elements. During the process they have observed such master artists as: James Abbott McNeill Whistler, Martin Puryear, Tony Cragg, Joan Miro, Frank Stella, MC Escher, and Charles Demuthe in order to observe and discuss how they have used the elements of line, shape and texture in their own work. I use the "think, pair, share" method in all of my classes, which allows students to individually think, pair up and share, then we share out in whole class discussion before beginning classwork. Below are some images of the work the groups are producing.

Parents - 6-3s are now all on Google Classroom. I have sent an email invite to all parents of students who are connected. In 6th grade we will focus on using G-Classroom during class time. As these students move on into 7th and 8th grade, that is when they will start to see homework assignments on G-Classroom.
At this time, I want to give students the opportunity to step up and take responsibility for their work before those emails get sent.
FInding Ourselves - My donor's choose project is going strong we are $217 shy of our goal of raising $593 for tools and materials needed in my Sculpture classes for their self portrait project. Please take a moment to check out the project:
With your help by either giving to the project and/or sharing the link on your social media, I know my students will have the opportunity to explore their own self identity. We will
