Students just finished their Color Theory projects. Parents, be sure to check out the new posts on your student's SeeSaw Portfolio. If you are having trouble signing in, please contact me and I will see what can be done. Next school year, 2017/18, we will be using SeeSaw a bit more. I am working on programming which will focus on students gaining more college and career ready skills as they learn how to develop a professional style artist portfolio. There will be more details before the end of this year and the start of next. Rising 7th graders, please stay tuned!
Sculpture projects will begin to be posted on SeeSaw beginning next week. Students are still working on them and are in the final stages of painting. Track 4 students will post images of their work when they track back in.
Parents, if you do not see your student's work, it for the following reasons: 1 - They were working to finish yesterday and ran out of time to use the classroom PhotoStation. 2 - A sculpture student who is in a class that all needed a bit more time.
OR 3 - your student did not finish their work on time. I encourage you to take this opportunity to speak with your student about the importance of meeting deadlines. I do have different things going on from one class to the next, but when a class is on schedule to meet a deadline I constantly remind those students that it is their responsibility to hit their deadline and communicate when they think they might not. That communication with me goes a long way as it is real world practice. I talk about how on the job employers appreciate communication and tend to show flexibility when it is present. Sometimes that is not always the case and you have to hit the deadline no matter what, but that is the risk we all have to take in life... and I am all about facilitating life lessons to help our students grow and handle what comes their way.
Thank you to the people who have donated so far to our current Donor's Choose project: Literacy, Art and Real News. Every little bit helps when building a program and I am very blessed and thankful to have such wonderful students and families who support it. We are currently at the halfway mark and going strong... but we have $176 more to go. You can help by doing at least one of two things:
- Make a Donation - any amount will be appreciated and help us get closer to the goal... renewed subscription to Scholastic Art Magazine.
- Share the link on your social media:
Copy this link and spread the word on your social media sites... twitter, snapchat, facebook, google+... other... any amount of exposure will help us get closer to our goal. Thank you in advance for your support! From myself, but most of all... from our students!
