Art Supply List...
- Composition Notebook OR 1 subject Notebook
- 1in binder - with both lined and plain white computer paper
- I do have at least two 3-ring hole punches in my classroom. Students may bring a pack of computer paper and keep it in my classroom and take from it as needed.
- Artists Sketchbook, must be Spiral Bound
- Suggested brands are: Strathmore or Canson
Please Note: I have attached a PDF copy of the Journal Check handout complete with grading rubric. Journals are checked for a classwork grade about two times per a 3 - week unit. It is very much like keeping a notebook for any class, only we get to draw in them :) . I am flexible because the goal is to guide students with learning how to more effectively use their journals regardless of whether they continue with visual arts classes, but also to assist those who wish to continue with becoming more self directed.
Any questions: contact me.
Note to Track 4...
Getting Started and What to Expect...
Homework - will be assigned on a weekly basis with an average of 3 assignments per week. These are short assignments which either reinforce what your child learned that day in class OR a preview to work they will do the next day. Please work with your child ensure they have access to a device in order to complete their assignments. If they have technical difficulties getting connected, please remind them to speak with me at the start of their next class and we will work out what they can do to get the work done.
All parents will have access to receive an email summary of their child's assignments in google classroom once your child has joined his or visual arts class.
Any questions: contact me.
If your child expresses a desire to change their electives for Semester 2. Please advise them to go to Student Services, located in the Front Office, while at school and get a course change request form as soon as possible. The Add/Drop period is only open for a week and we do not what students to lose valuable class time. If you have any questions regarding this process, please email
Brittina Creecy - 8th Grade / 7-3 & 7-4 - email@example.com
Margret Ray-Nobles - 6th Grade / 7-1 & 7-2 - firstname.lastname@example.org
That being said, Visual Arts may not be everyone's first choice, but if you child cannot change his or her course or is denied the change by guidance, students will have many opportunities to expand their skills while in art class no matter what their current level is.
Art & Technology...
Here is a quick list of apps your child will need to have access to either on their device, or one you share with them:
Mobile Devices - I encourage you to ensure that your child has the following apps available to them for working in google classroom:
- Google Classroom
- Google Docs
- Google Drive
All computers can access these apps via an internet browser. I highly encourage you to use Chrome or Firefox. Internet Explorer can be used, but it is still very unreliable.
Students must connect via a browser OR app sign in by going to the Wake Id site: wakeid.wcpss.net . They must do so using their Wake Co. Id login info. They can go to any teacher on campus, including me, in order to retrieve this info and/or reset their passwords. Any questions: contact me.
