I wish to take a moment to share with you that I have banned the Spinner Toy from my classes. I love that there are really cool and neat toys out there for our kids to experience and I look forward to the things they develop and create for future generations to experience as well. However, this particular toy craze has begun to cause a class time disruption in each and everyone of my classes. I have informed students all week that spinner toys are now banned as I observed students focusing on the toy rather than their work. I have also observed students borrowing the toy from their peers and increasing the class time disruption by being off task and causing others to be off task.
I have just confiscated two spinner toys from two separate class periods. If I see spinner toys in my classroom, that is what I will be doing. The confiscated toys will be dropped off at the front office just like personal devices with a note saying that a parent or guardian is the only person allowed to retrieve it. Please advise your student to keep their spinner toy put up so they may concentrate on their coursework and not cause a class time disruption.
