Art Survey - 6th Grade...
We're going to flip the script and showcase 6th grade first on this blog post. Tracks 3 & 4 are really rocking their use of the Element of Value. These students are currently working on their color project where they are recreating their own color wheels by combing through magazines in order to find the appropriate colors needed to complete it. More info about that will be posted in the next post.
Drawing & Painting - 7th Grade...
Drawing classes have just finished up their projects for which they studied the element of color. Studying color is typically called Color Theory and involves an in depth study of how color is used by various master artists, how to apply concepts of the use of value in the chosen colors, and where to place the colors in relationship to each other. 5th period completed a project called Mulitviews where they choose an object, draw it in 9 different views, then apply a color scheme to each view. While 4th period studied the technique of stippling and look at master works of art which were created during the Pointillism movement in art history.
Sculpture - 8th Grade...
Sculpture students have just finished phase one of their ceramics project; a clay vessel. They studied the work from Mesoamerica; Aztecs, Incans, and Myans. Period 2 created a comic strip on their work as we discussed the art of visual storytelling in sequence while Period 3 also studied the ideas of symbols and icons. From which, period 3 developed a design of a symbol and incorporated that as a visual on their piece. Vessels are being fired this week and we will have a glazing day so they can complete phase two for the second firing.
At this time, all sculpture students are beginning work on their final project a self portrait bust.
